2026-27 Season · Fan Predictions
Score predictions, season forecasts, and fan polls — from a supporter's perspective. Alonso era begins with a squad rebuild.
Xabi Alonso brings his Leverkusen blueprint to Stamford Bridge. With Morgan Rogers (£117m) and Quenda adding firepower, Cole Palmer pulling strings, and Lacroix anchoring the back line, Chelsea could push for a top-2 finish. If the Alonso system clicks by October and injuries stay manageable, a first title since 2017 is not out of the question.
A transition year with a new manager and 9 new signings. Top-4 is the realistic target, with a deep Champions League run as a bonus. The first 10 fixtures (Fulham, Brighton, Liverpool, Arsenal) will reveal whether the squad can gel fast enough. Expect growing pains in August-September, peak form by December.

Xabi Alonso's 3-4-2-1 formation thrived at Leverkusen, but the Premier League is a different beast. The first 6 fixtures will be the testing ground. If the press-resistant midfield trio clicks early, Chelsea could be a dark horse for the title.
The former Aston Villa man was sensational in patches last season. At £117m, the pressure is immediate. If he hits 12+ goals and 10+ assists, the fee looks justified. If he struggles to adapt to being the main man, questions will surface by November.
Palmer has been Chelsea's best player for two straight seasons. With better attacking talent around him (Rogers, Quenda, Emegha), the question is whether he can push from "excellent" to "world-class" — 20+ league goals is the benchmark.
After a year away from Europe's elite, Chelsea are back. Alonso's European pedigree (Europa League winner with Leverkusen) is a plus. Realistic target: knockout rounds, with a quarter-final as the ceiling depending on the round of 16 draw.
Nine signings totaling roughly £340m is the biggest spend in Chelsea history for a single window. The arrivals of Lacroix (£51m), Palestra (£43m), and Quenda (£43.5m) address key gaps. But integrating 9 new players into a new system is a massive coaching challenge — the results won't be instant.
The £117m marquee signing. Can he be the missing piece in Chelsea's attack?
Explosive dribbler with an eye for goal. His partnership with Palmer could be the most exciting in the league. Alonso's system should maximize his ball-carrying ability in the half-spaces.
12+ goals, 8+ assists across all competitions. PFA Young Player of the Year candidate if he adapts to the Alonso system quickly.
